Founder & Director
Since 1991, Mrs. Lawson has been dedicated to aiding home schooling parents by providing a superior education for their children. Based upon the conviction that home schooling provides the perfect environment for the formation of character and intellect while fostering respect between parents and children, Mrs. Lawson strives to make SCA an extension of the Christian home that seeks to exalt Christ in all things.
Vice Principal, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, and Mathematics Department Chair
Mrs. Banta has been with SCA since 2001. At SCA she teaches Math and Physical Education. She is also the Vice-Principal and the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Student Life. Mrs. Banta completed a double major in Mathematics and Political Science with secondary education certification from Campbellsville University. She earned her Rank II in education from Spalding University. Mrs. Banta taught in public school systems for seven years before coming to SCA. Her husband, Tony is a nurse practitioner with the Public Health Service. They have three children: Lucas, Emma, and Jack.
Dean of Faculty
Mr. Lindsey earned a B.A. in History and an M.Ed from Georgia State University, an M.Div in Biblical and Theological Studies and a Th.M in Church History from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has eight years of teaching experience in both public and private schools, from middle school through college, as well as sixteen years of teaching in the church (through various Sunday school classes, children’s church, and other venues). Mr. Lindsey’s greatest passion in life is making the good news of the Lord Jesus known to those who have never heard it before and making this gospel message more clearly known to those who are already following Christ. Andrew is married to Abby, and they have three children: Christian, Georgia, and Aurora. Mr. Lindsey is a member of Kosmosdale Baptist Church in southwest Louisville.
Dean of Student Affairs and Student Life
Mr. Williams hails from the isles of the Bahamas. Mr. Williams is a former entrepreneur, and has served the church since his conversion—thirteen years ago—in various capacities. Mr. Williams moved to Louisville in 2013 to attend SBTS. He and his wife, Windy Williams, are the joy-filled parents of three children, who are all elementary students at SCA. Along with his duties as the Dean of Student Affairs and Student Life, Mr. Williams teaches Math for SCA. Mr. Williams is excited to be a part of the SCA staff and faculty, especially as part of the Mathematics Department, where objective truth still reigns.
Mrs. Sundt’s background includes experience in administrative duties with a classical school in North Carolina. She first came to SCA in 2012. She has previously worked in the SCA office, and she also taught first grade for two years. She is married to Nathan Sundt, who is a tutor at SCA and an associate pastor at Kenwood Baptist Church.
Events and Community Life Coordinator
Mrs. Byron completed her Undergraduate and Masters degree in Education from the University of Kentucky and taught elementary school in the Fayette County and Spencer County Public School Systems. Mrs. Byron has been a parent at SCA since 2002. Her oldest son began attending SCA as a first grader and graduated in 2014. Mrs. Byron’s second son and daughter have attended SCA since preschool and are now in 10th and 8th grade. Mr. and Mrs. Byron serve on the SCA Advisory Council.
Archives Office Coordinator
Miss Thieneman was home educated all over the world before moving to the Louisville area in 1999 in order to be close to family. Since then she has made several short and long term trips in the interests of missions and worked at several Christian organizations. She is also the author of two books, one on Christian biographies and one on modesty. She joined the staff at Sayers in the fall of 2014.
Mrs. Sturgeon assists in Archives two days a week. She has been married for 24 years and has nine children. She is a busy homeschooling mom to Teague, Tate, Keylee, Brayden, Ellianna, and James who are currently students at SCA. She loves the exaltation of Christ, the challenge of classical education, and the like-minded community found at SCA. She is also the co-author of one book, which is a fundraising project for Children’s Heart Project.
